Mayor Bill de Blasio has been making a series of horrible decisions and he is slowly turning the city into a ghost town. The COVID-19 lockdowns already caused a number of issues but things are going from bad to worse. The looting and rioting that de Blasio has allowed is eroding what little bit of law and order that the city had left.
Why would anyone continue to live in a city where the taxes are this high and the rent prices never stop soaring? There’s no reason to do so and this is something that de Blasio is going to learn. Citizens are going to be fleeing the city rapidly, taking the economy with them. If things keep heading in this direction, there won’t be any city left for people to destroy.
The exodus has begun and the coronavirus outbreak is expediting the process. New Yorkers have left their country and beach homes behind, creating an avalanche of former residents who are looking for homes upstate and in the suburbs. Moon Salahie, owner of Elite Moving & Storing in Yonkers, can confirm.
He says that he has been working around the clock ever since the city moved into Phase 1 of the reopening process. “People are fleeing the city in droves,” says Salahie. Families who have young children to consider are heading out before the school year has a chance to start. “The least movement would be the Park Avenue and Fifth Avenue crowds. Those people don’t have to leave because they have second homes,” he continued.
Salahie is 100 percent correct about that. The moves are piling up and it’s not just a few isolated residents. Other moving companies are also swamped at the moment. New Yorkers were not happy before the virus took over their daily lives and now, they are letting the mayor know how unhappy they are. All of the shootings, homelessness, subpar schooling and sky high tax rates have created a city that few would want to live in.
The Upper West Side is at the epicenter of the trend but we are sure that the city is experiencing a wide range of discontent at the moment. For every family that leaves, there are at least two more that would happily take off if they had the ability to do so. Roadway Moving President Ross Sapir took the time to speak with Fox and he confirmed what was said by Salahie.
Sapir has had a very busy summer himself. “For the last three months, we couldn’t keep up with demand,” he says. The domino effect that is about to unfold here is going to send shock waves through the city. If everyone starts to flee, the tax base erodes. This will only serve to make things worse and more people are going to leave than ever before.
de Blasio is objectively one of the worst mayors in the country and he has run New York City into the ground. While it may be premature to write the city off entirely, those who have paid close attention to these types of flight patterns believe that the writing is on the wall. The New York residents who are looking to flee will probably be forced to quarantine for an extended period of time, so we hope that they are ready for that!
This is the same city that decided to force their visitors to quarantine. The idea that people would go out of their way to visit New York City right now is funny enough by itself but de Blasio actually saw fit to add a deterrent. A city that is in the midst of massive crime wave and a coronavirus pandemic probably shouldn’t act so high and mighty.
That’s the de Blasio way, though. He destroys everything that he touches and makes every excuse in the book. We can’t wait to hear how he manages to justify the mass exodus that he is currently responsible for.
