Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in a post on Instagram Saturday that she was daydreaming during a recent event about a Goodbye Trump announcement that would notify the nation that President Donald Trump is gone.

Clinton posted a video from a conversation she had alongside historian Heather Cox Richardson and actor Lin-Manuel Miranda on November 18 titled History Has its Eyes on Us.

Clinton also shared the clip on X, writing in the caption that when a fire announcement interrupts the event you might find yourself daydreaming about a Goodbye Trump.

“You know what this reminds me of, is that I wish that there could be like a huge national sound system. And, we would all wake up, and they’d say ‘Attention, attention. We have found the problem, and we have solved it, he is gone.'”

The audience met her comments with loud applause.

“But the reason we’re here tonight is to remind all of us, including ourselves, that that can’t happen unless we make it happen.”

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The event benefited Latino Victory and Onward Together, which Clinton said helped to fund candidates that would stand against this tide of intolerance and cruelty.

The former Democratic presidential candidate has been outspoken about her criticism of Trump since losing to him in the 2016 election.

Clinton recently took aim at Trump’s ballroom construction, posting on X that it’s not his house.

“It’s your house. And he’s destroying it.”

Conservatives mocked Clinton’s post by revisiting a 2001 controversy when she and former President Bill Clinton returned more than 28,000 dollars in items after questions arose about gifts designated as White House property according to The Washington Post at the time.

The hypocrisy of Clinton criticizing Trump over White House renovations while she faced accusations of taking property from the building struck many observers as rich. At least Trump is building something rather than allegedly removing valuables that belong to the American people.

Clinton’s fantasy about a national announcement proclaiming Trump is gone reveals the depth of animosity she still harbors nearly a decade after her stunning 2016 defeat. She has never fully accepted that American voters rejected her in favor of the businessman from New York.

Her comment that this can’t happen unless we make it happen raised eyebrows among those who noted the aggressive language. Coming from a prominent political figure with significant influence, such rhetoric about making Trump gone could be interpreted in troubling ways.

The enthusiastic applause Clinton received for her daydream shows how deep Trump hatred runs in certain Democratic circles. These are the same people who lecture conservatives about political violence and dangerous rhetoric while cheering fantasies about Trump being removed.

Clinton’s ongoing bitterness about 2016 has defined much of her public life since that election night when she refused to address her supporters and sent John Podesta out instead. She has blamed everyone from James Comey to Russian interference to misogyny for her loss rather than accepting responsibility.

The event featuring Clinton, Richardson and Miranda attracted a crowd eager to hear criticism of the current president. Latino Victory and Onward Together are organizations dedicated to electing Democrats and opposing Trump’s agenda on immigration and other issues.

Clinton positioning herself as a defender of the White House while criticizing Trump’s construction plans ignores her own controversial history with the building. The 2001 scandal involving items the Clintons took when leaving the White House remains fresh in the minds of many Americans.

Former presidents and first ladies are supposed to maintain a certain dignity and avoid constantly attacking their successors. Clinton has abandoned any pretense of following that tradition, instead becoming one of Trump’s most persistent critics.

Her daydream about waking up to an announcement that Trump is gone reflects wishful thinking disconnected from political reality. Trump won the 2024 election decisively and enjoys strong support among Republican voters and many independents.

Rather than accepting the democratic outcome and moving on with her life, Clinton continues relitigating old grievances and fantasizing about Trump’s removal. This obsession has made her a figure of mockery among conservatives who see her as unable to accept that voters chose someone else.

The contrast between Clinton’s rhetoric about tolerance and her own intolerant attitude toward Trump and his supporters has not gone unnoticed. She speaks about fighting cruelty while engaging in the kind of dehumanizing language she claims to oppose.
