Freezing Deaths More Than Double Thanks to Joe Biden and Gavin Newsom
Just how bad is the economy after four years of leaving Joe Biden and his puppet handlers in charge? Check out this tragedy. More than twice as many Americans are freezing to death every year with Joe Biden in charge, compared to any previous year dating back to 1999. Under the watchful eye of Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA), California had the highest number of deaths per state last year. People are dying as Democrat leaders strive against abstract or nonexistent problems like global warming and pronouns.
Few measures can encapsulate how well your civilization is doing as the number of people who die from exposure each year. You’d think it would be an exceedingly rare thing for someone to freeze to death in the US. Off the top of your head, how many deaths from hypothermia or freezing do you think occur in America in any given year?
Seven? Forty? A hundred?
Between 1999 and 2021, the US averaged 1,301 deaths per year from hypothermia and extreme cold. A total of 16,911 people died from cold conditions during that period. The lowest number was in 2006 when the number fell to 1,058. The record-high year was in 2008 when 1,536 Americans died from hypothermia and freezing temps.
The 2008 figure makes sense. The financial crash that year drove a lot of Americans into homelessness. When more people end up outdoors in the cold, we end up with a lot more cold-related deaths. Other than the anomaly of 2008, the number has stayed right around 1,300 hypothermia deaths per year.
As Americans are increasingly slipping through the cracks and falling into homelessness in the Biden years, the CDC recorded 3,500 hypothermia deaths in 2022. That’s more than twice as many as the record during the 2008 financial crash and almost three times as many as the yearly average. More Americans have frozen to death since Joe Biden has been in office than in any previous year in the 21st century.
The 3,500 figure translates into an average of 70 hypothermia deaths in each of the 50 states. You might think that Montana or Alaska would have the most deaths from cold and hypothermia, but that’s not true either. Sunny California led the nation with 166 hypothermia deaths. You might think that there would be more cold-related deaths in the rural and mountainous parts of California. It’s colder there and they have fewer emergency responders.
That’s not correct either, however. Far more Californians are dying in urban areas run by Democrats. Los Angeles County had the highest rate of deaths in California between 2021 and 2023, at 46. Santa Clara County (San Jose) had 42 hypothermia deaths, up from a yearly average of 11. Sacramento County, where California’s state legislature with a supermajority of Democrats is located, had 34 hypothermia deaths between 2021 and 2023. Sacramento usually averages 6 cold-related deaths every year, but now they’re up to 11 every year and climbing.
If you listen to Gavin Newsom, he’ll tell you that California’s economy has never been stronger. The economy’s booming! Yet there are homeless people everywhere. They’re not all crazy drug addicts. Many of them became homeless because the cost of living under Newsom’s policies forced them out of their homes.
The same goes for Joe Biden. He claims that he has created the strongest economy in American history. He might even think that’s true since we learned recently that his staff never shows him negative news articles about his policies. If twice as many people are freezing to death every year, that’s not a sign of a healthy economy.
