Top Democrat Promises Revenge Again MAGA Supporters

Rep. Eric Swalwell spoke on MSNBC’s “The Weeknight” about the 2026 midterms and accountability. He predicted Democrats would take the House and use subpoena power against Trump officials and allies.
The interview also touched on allegations of mortgage fraud against him. He pushed back on those claims and tied them to politics. He said the Justice Department had not contacted him beyond media leaks.
Eric Swalwell said, “Well, first, of course, these allegations are false, just like the allegations against Adam Schiff are false and Letitia James are false and Lisa Cook are false. And a spoiler alert for you, there will be allegations next week against somebody that’ll be false. No, the Justice Department has not said anything just through leaked media reporting. But this is really about Donald Trump going after his political enemies.”
Co-host Symone Sanders pressed him on his strategy going forward. She referenced his earlier statement that he would not end his lawsuit. She asked if he had heard from the Justice Department.
He shifted to the majority fight and the tools it brings. He framed next year as a turning point for investigations. He said California voters sent a message in recent results.
Eric Swalwell said, “This is why being in the majority also matters, because these guys think that they can do this because there’s they’re invincible and there are no consequences. A year from now we are going to win the majority. That’s what we learned last Tuesday when California voters stood up against Donald Trump. When we’re in the majority, we will have subpoena power and accountability will happen. So Bill Pulte and any other lawless official who is carrying out these political prosecutions on behalf of Donald Trump, they should familiarize themselves with the Judiciary Committee room, because they’re going to be spending a lot of time there answering questions. I sure hope everything they did was above board.”
He named businessman Bill Pulte as a focus if Democrats win control. He warned that officials tied to investigations would be called to testify. He said they should prepare for long hours before House panels.
His comments followed stories that he was referred to the Justice Department. He linked those stories to a pattern he sees against Democrats. He compared his situation to other prominent figures.
He also pointed to last summer’s campaign moments. He said they showed how politics can be weaponized. He argued that his critics are acting because they think there are no consequences.
His message to viewers was simple. Flip the House, turn on subpoenas, and force answers. He said accountability would happen with new gavels and full committee authority.
The timeline he described starts within a year. That covers candidate recruitment, fundraising, and district organizing. He suggested early wins in California signal momentum.
On the legal front, he said he has not received direct contact from the Justice Department. He said media leaks are the only channel. He argued that due process is being bypassed.
The interview ended with the same note it started on. He insisted the allegations against him are false. He said next year’s majority will deliver consequences for what he called political prosecutions.
