What Is The “Whiteness Pandemic”?

The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities which has taken in hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars is warning on its website about the whiteness pandemic. The school is accusing white people of perpetuating systemic racism and calling on adults to re-educate themselves.

On the University’s Institute of Child Development page on the Culture and Family Life lab there is a report called White Pandemic. It includes woke racist language to claim that so-called white people perpetuate racism and that it comes from the family system from childhood all the way to adulthood.

“At birth, young children growing up in White families begin to be socialized into the culture of Whiteness, making the family system one of the most powerful systems involved in systemic racism.”

The department apparently labels every child and person raised in America who is white as racist.

“If you were born or raised in the United States, you have grown up in the Whiteness Pandemic, and you can play a role in halting and reversing this pandemic, especially if you are White because of the power and privilege you hold in this racialized society.”

The statement on the page continued with instructions for white Americans.

“If you were socialized into the culture of Whiteness during childhood, it is not your fault, but as an adult it is now your responsibility to self-reflect, re-educate yourself, and act. If you are a White adult, antiracist action involves an ongoing process of self-reflection in order to develop a healthy positive White identity while engaging in courageous antiracist parenting/caregiving.”

The parents’ rights watchdog Defending Education reported about the content on the page that comes from the report’s lead author and lab director Dr. Gail Ferguson.

Ferguson was awarded the 2022 George A. Miller Award for an Outstanding Article by the American Psychological Association Division 1 from the Society for General Psychology for her article titled The Whiteness pandemic behind the racism pandemic: Familial Whiteness socialization in Minneapolis following GeorgeFloyd’s murder.

In one section there’s advice for white parents and caregivers or parents and caregivers of white children. It advises them to read books from racists such as Ibram X. Kendi and Robin DiAngelo.

This report is proof that no matter how much work the Trump administration has done to stop Diversity, Equity and Inclusion insanity at companies and universities it’s still happening.

Rhyen Staley serves as research director at Defending Education. He told Fox News that this far-left programming at a major public university is another example of how ingrained DEI is in higher education and is not going away any time soon.

Senator Mike Lee of Utah also pointed out that UM has accepted hundreds of millions in federal dollars allowing it to promote this anti-racism.

“The University of Minnesota received over $600 million in federal grants—your tax dollars—last year.”

Lee wrote this on X along with the article about the University.

A UM spokesperson told Fox News that the school is steadfast in its commitment to the principles of academic freedom.

The university’s claim that this represents academic freedom ignores the fact that taxpayer money is funding explicitly racist content aimed at white Americans. Federal grants totaling over 600 million dollars flow to this institution while it publishes material labeling white children as participants in systemic racism from birth.

Kendi and DiAngelo have made careers promoting anti-white ideology dressed up as anti-racism. Their books teach that white people are inherently racist and must engage in constant self-flagellation to become acceptable members of society.

The Trump administration has worked to eliminate DEI programs across the federal government and has pressured companies and universities to abandon these divisive policies. Yet institutions like the University of Minnesota continue operating DEI programs with minimal consequences.

Parents who send their children to this university or pay taxes that fund it deserve to know their money supports content calling white families a pandemic. The language used mirrors public health terminology to suggest whiteness itself is a disease requiring treatment.

The recommendation that white adults re-educate themselves echoes authoritarian regimes that forced citizens into political indoctrination camps. Using this terminology in an academic setting normalizes the idea that holding certain views or belonging to a racial group requires mandatory correction.

Senator Lee’s highlighting of the federal funding connection points to potential legislative action. Congress controls the purse strings and could attach conditions to federal grants prohibiting this type of explicitly racial programming.

The university hiding behind academic freedom while promoting racism against white people represents a double standard. Similar content targeting any other racial group would result in immediate condemnation and termination of those responsible.

Until universities face real consequences for maintaining these programs they will continue operating DEI initiatives regardless of federal directives. The swamp in higher education runs deep and requires sustained pressure to drain.
