Not missing a beat, he’s also taken a swipe at Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, criticizing his management of the case with the kind of enthusiasm reserved for reality TV showdowns.

From his cell in a Los Angeles federal prison and through various media interviews, Avenatti has attacked the integrity of Bragg’s prosecution, proposing it’s a ploy to influence the 2024 presidential election. Speaking to The New York Post, Avenatti articulated his suspicions about the political motivations behind the case, positing that fear of Trump’s potential re-election is driving the prosecution. “If this were any other person besides Donald Trump, such charges wouldn’t have been pressed at this juncture,” Avenatti stated, “It’s absolutely wrong and a horrendous act to try to prevent millions from voting for him.”

Avenatti, now dabbling in political punditry, has called Trump a “victim of the system.” He also has a new hot take: the prosecution Trump’s embroiled in might be the accidental PR Trump needs and could potentially help rocket him back into the Oval Office. Avenatti has been chatting with Trump’s legal squad about possibly hitting the witness stand for Trump.

Avenatti, who once served as Stormy Daniels’ attorney, is currently incarcerated for stealing book proceeds from the actress for defrauding other clients out of millions of dollars and obstructing the IRS.

Last month, a court upheld Michael Avenatti’s 2022 conviction. He was sentenced to four years in prison and ordered to pay $148,000 in restitution. According to prosecutors, he was also required to forfeit approximately $297,000 that he stole from Daniels.

Referring to himself in the third person on Fox News, he said: “So if Michael Avenatti is coming to his defense, and I was one of his staunchest opponents for a very significant period, that should tell people something.”

“The defense has reached out to me,” Avenatti disclosed to the Post. “While it’s uncertain if I will ultimately testify, I’ve been in communication with Trump’s defense for a significant part of the year.”

Sources confirm that talks between Avenatti and Trump’s legal team have occurred, though the specifics remain undetermined. Meanwhile, Avenatti remains incarcerated.

During a recent interview, Avenatti expressed his concern about the unequal media access that exists between Stormy Daniels and Michael Cohen and US President Donald Trump. Avenatti specifically pointed out that Daniels and Cohen have been able to freely criticize Trump in the media, while a partial gag order has restrained Trump himself.

This gag order was imposed as part of an ongoing investigation into payments made to Daniels and other women who claim to have had affairs with Trump. Avenatti believes that this disparity in media access is unfair and allows Daniels and Cohen to have an advantage over Trump in terms of shaping public opinion. Avenatti took to X, decrying what he views as a prosecutorial tactic that undermines fair trial principles by allowing key witnesses to publicly denigrate a silenced defendant.

According to Avenatti, this illustrates significant bias and manipulation in the lead-up to the trial, further questioning the fairness of the proceedings.

In an MSNBC interview, he expressed concern that the trial might strip many Americans of their preferred presidential candidate over what he sees as dubious legal grounds. He also took to the social media platform X, urging liberals to recognize the trial as a grave error.
